Mark Richards Pro

Stu Kennedy was the only Le-Ba surfer on today at the Mark Richards Pro WQS at Merewether. After a slow start to the heat Stu scored a 6.33 and backed that up with a 8.83 to win the heat and combo the others. Good stuff Stu.

Stu surfs next in Ht9 and Stephen Walsh in Ht11 of the round 160 (round 2)

Stu made it through his round 2 heat and is surfing again in heat 10 of round 3 this arvo. Walshy and Woody are both out, bad luck fellahs.

Adam is the last Le-Ba surfer in the event. He surfs in Ht 13 of round 5 (round of 64)

Adam Melling has smashed his opposition and won his round of 64 heat. With wave scores of 8.73 and 7.67 nobody came close and now Mello is into the round of 32 in heat 7.

Arrive alive Central Coast Pro

Woody has finished in 13th place at the Arrive Alive Pro. The swell dropped overnight down to an inconsistent 1'-2' and it was a lottery out there. Well done mate, that's a great start to the season with 694 WQS points.

Stu Kennedy smashed his round of 96 heat this morning with scores of 9.00and 7.77 to easily progress into the round of 48.
Woody surfed great to win his heat with scores 6.33 and 5.10. Bad luck for Adam who was in the same heat but couldn't buy a wave and finished in 3rd in what was a very slow heat for waves.
Walshy ended up 3rd in his late arvo heat. The conditions were crap and it was the luck of the draw .

Stu Kennedy couldn't find the waves to get thru this morning in a very inconsistent heat.
Woody just missed out on winning his heat by 0.06 points but still came 2nd and progressed thru to the round of 24. So Woody is the last man standing from Lennox, or is that Taipan ? Go hard Woody !

Arrive alive Central Coast Pro

The Arrive alive Central Coast Pro waiting period, from 11-16th March, starts tomorrow at Soldiers Beach. Le-Ba has four guys in this first Aussie WQS for '08. Pro Junior demon Stu Kennedy in Ht4, Jimmy (Taipan) Wood Ht11 and Stephen Walsh Ht24, all in the round of 144. Adam (Surfs a bit like Mick Fanning but hates it when people say that) Melling surfs in Ht11 of the round of 96.

It will be interesting to see how Stu goes in a WQS because everyone thinks that he has what it takes for sure and his confidence level is probably set at 10. The Taipan is as fit as and will be keen to shake off the 'funny guy' tag and show everyone that he fucken rips(tell us a joke Woody). Walshy can show up and blow up at any event as long as he doesn't snap all his boards before the event. In the latest Surfing Life they interviewed the Aussie WCT qualifiers for '08 asking who Surfing Life will be interviewing for '09 and the first name mentioned was Adam Melling. Bring it on !

Stu surfed to everyones expectations on day one. His heat score ended up being the highest of the day on 16.26 and easily taking the win from WCT surfer Roy Powers.

“I would really like to do well in this event. At the moment I’m just trying to focus on my surfing and build my profile as a good consistent surfer,” Stu said.
“To me it’s more about improving my surfing and heat scores at this point in time.”

Woody started strong and led the heat from start to finish with the second
highest heat score of the day, 15.27.

Walshy had a slow start and looked gone until 1 minute to go. He needed a 6.37 and managed a 7.77 just before the hooter in the final heat of the day.

So all four Le-Ba fellahs are in the 2nd round. Click here for the event link

Stu Kennedy has finished 2nd, again, at the Billabong Pro Junior Taranaki. It was a close exchange between the two inform Aussies, with the lead swapping a number of times in the 30-minute final. Despite Stu being ranked strong favourite to take the win following a blistering 18.10 heat score in the semis, it was U/18 amateur world champion Owen Wright taking the win with 13.85 to Stu's 13.60 total heat score.

Despite finishing the final in second, Kennedy retained the ASP Ratings lead and continues his stranglehold on the 2008 series. Remarkably, from five events, his worst result is a Quarter Final equal 5th.

Jim Beam Surftag

Marcus Aboody finished 3rd in the prestigious Jim Beam Boardriders Cup in classic 4ft waves at North Narrabeen. Marcus went down to former WCT surfer Nathan Webster in a very tight, 11.8 to 10.3, semi final. Brains got 2nd in this event last year. Well done mate.
Unfortunately team Le-Ba (Marcus,Mello,Steve Walsh,Woody and Joey H) went out in the quarterfinal of the Jim Beam Surftag. The team will be fired up for a better result at the Ripcurl Kirra Teams Challenge on the Goldy over the next three days

Stu Kennedy, the standout performer of the 2008 Pro Junior series has progressed unchallenged into the final 12 surfers with an impressive display of on-rail and above the lip surfing. The long right hand point break of Stent Road, dished out clean 2-3ft waves for round one and two of the junior men’s. The event is completely mobile in the Taranaki region.

"Im into the round of 12 and that is another good result for me,” said Stu. “I’ve had a good run and I want to keep what I’m doing to myself.

“I just try and talk to everyone, be friendly and take my mind off the actual competition.”

“Julian is the only top guy who didn’t come, so this is a really hard event and I’m out to just secure another good finish,” he said. “I had heard the waves get really good around here, but unfortunately it doesn’t look like we will be getting much swell so we could be rock hopping again tomorrow for the final day.”

How good is Stu going this year ? Good luck for the rest of the event mate.

Jim Beam Surftag

The coming week is a huge one for the Le-Ba team. The team - Woody, Marcus, Mello, Stevie Walsh and Huddo are flying down to Sydney for the finals of the Jim Beam Surftag which will be held on Friday 7th at North Narrabeen. Click here for the link to the live webcast

Marcus will also be competing in the Boardriders Cup which is an individual comp consisting of the Open winners from all the major clubs around Oz.

The Ripcurl Kirra Teams Challenge , that Le-Ba won last year, starts on the Friday and runs thru to Sunday. This event also requires a junior surfer. If you can get to D'Bah
on Fri/Sat/Sun the boys would really appreciate it. Good luck fellahs
