The Nike 6.0 Pier Pressure Pro Junior event started today in sloppy 2' - 3' windswell at the legendary Huntington Beach Pier. Stuart Kennedy showed why he is current No. 1 on the ASP Australasia Pro Junior Series, advancing through three heats today over his North American competitors.

“I'm just trying to take it heat by heat, and trying to get more comfortable because I haven't surfed a competition in about a month and a half,” said Stu. “I won the last contest at home, so it's a good confidence builder coming to a different country. I've never competed overseas before, and I'm just trying to enjoy my time over here.”
"It's a good setup and all the boys get spoiled with how much money the sponsors put into these events, and it's good to be a part of it,”

Stu made it all the way to the final only to be narrowly beaten by Julian Wilson. Well done mate , you're having a pretty good year bloke.

NSW Open

Stephen Walsh was in superb form throughout the entire NSW Open. Walshy was eliminated in the semi-finals by eventual champion Matt Bemrose. This result means Walshy will represent NSW at the Australian Surf Festival in August.

Red Bull Junior Surf Masters

Red Bull and Mick Fanning are giving you the opportunity to go head-to-head
against some of Australia’s best young surfers. For your shot at fame and fortune,
put your board where your mouth is and click here. Our local qualifier is - Lennox Head Beach 9 – 10 Aug . The event is open to surfers born after December 31 1988 and before January 1 1995. If you qualify thru the regional event you can then get to the final with the other groms and 16 of Mick Fanning's invitees at the Red Bull Junior Surf Masters 30 – 31 August29
All participants will compete in the same division.

Sri Lankan Airlines Pro Maldives

The Sri Lankan Airlines Pro 6 Star Prime WQS started in the Maldivian Atolls yesterday in really fun looking waves. Adam Melling starts in the round of 96 in Ht 9 so he will be in the 17th heat of the day when the event starts today. The Maldives is 5 hours behind us so the webcast should start around 1pm.

UPDATE 11.6
Despite landing a massive backside air reverse Adam came third in his heat and was knocked. It was a really tough heat with the two Brazilians hassling like a pair of bloody Brazilians. Adam gets 49th and 750 points. Better luck next comp mate
