Update Feb 8th
Great surfing from Owen and Mello today, easily progressing into the final 16. A strange one for Stu who started with a 7.17 but couldn't find a back up in a heat that he should have made. Tyler continued her dominant form and moved into the quarters.

Update Feb 9th
Mello and Owen both smashed it again today, putting in the sort of performance you would expect from seasoned WCT pro's. The fellas are both into the quarters ( final 8 ). Tyler was unlucky today losing out in her quarter by 0.3 .

Update Feb 10th
Owen defeated Mello in the Final of the Breaka Burleigh Pro. Both surfers wents nuts in their quarters and semis scoring multiple 9 + rides. Owen finished 1.30 points ahead of Mello who ran out of time chasing a 7.11.

“It feels great, I’ve put so much effort into training lately for the year ahead and I’m feeling fit and injury free and I’ve got the right boards – this is just part of what I want to do this year. It’s my first win since New York in 2011 and it’s important to get that winning feeling – I’m fully aware that this is a 4-Star event and the World Championship Tour is another serious step-up but I feel right to really have a crack at it this year” said Owen
“I’m pretty bummed on second place, the goofy footer got me, but it’s been a fun day, there were some great heats early today and I’m still pretty happy with that result –  I’m looking forward to Snapper,” said Melling.
Congratulations fellas.
