Be the Influence Pro the final event on the men's and women's 2013 ASP Australasia Pro Junior Series runs July 12th - 14th at Coffs Harbour. Jake Snellgrove, Sam Morgan, Nik Hoskin, Steph Single ( currently ranked No.1 ) and Mikey Wright will be at the event. Good luck groms.

Update July 12th
Nik progressed thru the round of 64 after a count back today. Unfortunately Jake was narrowly eliminated in round 1. Jake drew the short straw after Mitch Parko entered late and surfed in the opening round.
Step, current ASP Australasia Pro Junior Series No. 1 ranked women’s surfer easily won her opening heat today. Single had a slow start to her heat and was sitting in last with 10 minutes remaining. She managed to dig deep to post a couple of solid scores to advance into the Round of 16.
“I was so nervous in that one, I’m glad that first heat is out of the way. I couldn’t find any waves, or do any turns, but then I got a 7-point-ride and it all came together for me. I got sick in Nicaragua, so it was tough to prepare for this event, but I’ve been surfing and training as much as possible and I’m feeling good now. I love the Be The Influence event and campaign, we have Owen Wright and Sally Fitzgibbons as ambassadors and they do a great job of spreading the message.”

Update July 13th
A great start to the event for Mikey posting a 18.00 point total ( R2 ) and a wins in the rounds of 64, 32 and 16.

“This is my first ASP Australasia Pro Junior event of the year. I was away and sick for a couple of the other ones, so it feel good to come out in my first heat and get a 9-point-ride. The waves are fun, there are plenty of walls to bust out some big turns, I had a lot of fun out there.
I’m so happy to make the Quarterfinals, I’m really excited for tomorrow! My older brother Owen is one of the ambassadors for Be The Influence, I’ve looked up to him my whole life, he’s like a mentor of mine and it’s great to see him setting a good example to all the young people in Australia.”

Steph was eliminated in the Quarters with the highest scoring wave but no back up. She can only be beaten for the Title by  Ellie-Jean Coffey if she makes the Final.

Update July 14th
Mikey bowed out in the Quarters to the eventual winner Jordan Lawler to finish 5th. Steph finished the Australasian Junior circuit 2nd after Ellie Jean won the Final today. That's an amazing result Steph , congratulations.
